GOD’S LOVE

John 3:16 - 17 Hebrew Word: הָבֲהאַ Ahavah (Love) John 3:16-17 reveals the depth of God’s ahavah—His love. The Hebrew word "ahavah" goes beyond mere emotion; at its core, it means “to give.” This is beautifully illustrated in John 3:16: "For God so loved... that He gave." God's "ahavah" is an active, unconditional, and sacrificial love that seeks the well-being of others. It was this "ahavah" that moved God to give His only Son, Jesus, as a sacrifice for our sins. This is love in its truest form—not based on merit or worthiness, but flowing from God’s very nature. God’s "ahavah" reaches into the darkest places to offer redemption and eternal life. It’s a love we can never earn, yet it is freely given. As we reflect on the immensity of God's "ahavah", we are called to let this same love flow through us, transforming the way we treat others. Just as God's love is sacrificial and unconditional, we are invited to love with the same generosity, giving of ourselves to others with grace and compassion. The hidden treasure in "ahavah" lies in its active nature. While many view love as a feeling, "ahavah" requires action. God's love is not passive; it moves Him to act on our behalf. The treasure is recognizing that God’s "ahavah" pursues you, it reaches down to you, and it meets you exactly where you are, offering redemption and grace. His love is not just something you receive—it’s something that transforms and empowers you to love others as He loves you. This understanding shifts your perspective from simply being a recipient of God’s love to being an active participant in sharing that love with the world. Reflection: How has God’s "ahavah"—His love—impacted your life? In what ways can you extend this love to those around you? Action Step: Spend time meditating on John 3:16-17. Reflect on the greatness of God’s love for you. Think about someone in your life who could benefit from experiencing God’s love through your actions, and make a plan to show them love in a tangible way.
